‘A musical journey through calm and relaxing songs and tunes’. It can be very difficult describing a new music album in words. But that’s what I think of Kurt Vile’s epic new album: b’lieve i’m going down’.
I woke up this morning
Didn’t recognize the man in the mirror
Then I laughed and I said, “Oh silly me, that’s just me’
– Pretty Pimpin
The journey starts with ‘Pretty Pimpin’, the first song on the album. I immediately got hooked on the first tunes of this song. It feels like some kind of movement or rhythm. Like the start of an awesome roadtrip to no particular place. It just goes on and on and on… ‘b’lieve i’m goin down’ is one of those albums with more than just one or two great songs. The journey continues through great sounds and lyrics.
Sometimes my dad likes to joke around when it comes to new music by saying: ‘they don’t make em anymore like back in the days’. Referring to music from the sixties and seventies, The Velvet Underground, The Stones, Neil Young and Van Morrison. However the cool thing about my dad is that he also really likes to listen to new music from this generation. To me, Kurt Vile is a good example of a great new artist.
